Scanning
The camera will not open or scan. What should I check?
Open iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera and make sure Barcode Inspector is enabled. Return to the app, hold the barcode flat in good light, fill most of the guide with the barcode, and keep the phone steady. Use the flashlight control when glare is not a problem.
Can I scan a barcode from a saved image?
Yes. Open the app menu, choose Scan from Photos, and select an image containing the barcode. Crop tightly before importing when the barcode occupies only a small part of the image.
Why will an Intelligent Mail barcode not scan in the standard reader?
Use the dedicated Intelligent Mail scanner from the app menu. It is designed for the long 65-bar USPS format. Keep the entire barcode visible, level, sharp, and evenly lit.
Which common barcode formats can the standard reader inspect?
Barcode Inspector supports common retail and general-purpose formats recognized by its scanner, including QR, UPC, EAN, Code 39, Code 93, Code 128, ITF, Codabar, Data Matrix, Aztec, and PDF417. Actual recognition depends on image quality and device support.
Results and sharing
How do I move a result to my computer?
After a successful scan, tap Share Results. Barcode Inspector creates a readable text report. Send it by email, AirDrop, Messages, or another compatible app, then open the text file on your computer and copy the values into your work system. See the complete sharing guide.
What is the difference between Copy All Data and Share Results?
Copy All Data places the report on the iPhone clipboard. Share Results creates a plain-text file for email, AirDrop, Messages, chat, or other destinations in the iOS share sheet.
Does a decoded USPS tracking code show live delivery events?
No. Barcode Inspector decodes the data printed in an Intelligent Mail barcode. It does not retrieve USPS delivery scans, mailpiece events, or live tracking history.
IMb Premium and purchases
What remains free?
The standard barcode reader remains free. Intelligent Mail inspection includes three successful IMb scans per day.
Is IMb Premium a subscription?
No. IMb Premium is a one-time, permanent unlock for unlimited Intelligent Mail scanning.
My previous purchase is missing. What should I do?
Open IMb Premium in the app and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure the iPhone is signed into the Apple Account used for the original purchase. Apple manages payment and purchase restoration.
Privacy and account questions
Do I need an account?
No. Barcode Inspector does not require account registration or login.
Does Barcode Inspector collect my barcode data?
No. Barcode processing is performed on your device. The app does not collect, store, sell, or transmit your barcode results to the developer. When you choose to share a report, the destination you select handles that data under its own terms. Read the Privacy Policy.
